I really wanted to try this easy recipe for cinnamon rolls made out of toast.
I left out the icing because I thought you could technically eat them without or use something similiar.
First you have to cut off the crust and roll the toast slices flat.
I could not find a bigger cutting board at my mums kitchen but it was good enough I think.
I kept the crust now...I think you can make something similiar out of them.
technically something like "sweet fries" if you understand what I mean haha.
I pretty much just eyeballed everything instead of measuring but I always do when cooking.
I think it is more a problem when baking a cake or smth but here it is just getting a feeling of how much you need and how sweet you like it etc.
I melted a tiny bit the butter in the microwave so it is easier to mix and put it in the fridge for a minute or two.
In the meantime I mixed the two other bowls.
I used this vanilla extract.
It was the best I could find...I think very often you don't really find the ingredients that are shown in american recipes.
Maybe it is because we just do different stuff and it is not so common here or I am just very bad at finding this stuff in the grocery shops.
This is the bowl with the sugar and the cinnamon.
Instead of normal sugar I used the brown one again.
I love brown sugar a lot tbh. I prefer it over normal one.
It just has a tasty caramel-like touch to it that I love.
Later I would find out the bowl is the worst I could have chosen for this.
I then spread the cinnamon butter on the toast slices.
I made not enough but I think it is also because I made more slices than in the original recipe and misestimated how much I would need.
For some reason the second time it didn't cool down as well like the first time even though I did exactly the same?? I then spread more or less liquidy butter on them but it worked regardles haha.
What was difficult is to roll the slices!!
I figured it was because I did not make them flat enough.
While waiting for the second round of butter to cool down I made the other slices flatter.
Here you can see on the right were the first couple rolls and on the left the flatter ones.
You can see a significant difference!
Both tasted good but the left were much easier to roll and also easier to fry on the pan.
I also used tongs like she did in the video but this was so damn difficult to do!!
I put down the heat to slow down everything a bit but it was still not easy to roll them over, they kept rolling back to the other side that was already golden haha.
After frying in the pan she put the rolls in the sugar-cinnamon mix without adding anything but mine did not want to stick on the rolls..idk why.
It pretty much only took the cinnamon powder inbetween lmao.
The bowl was too small for this to work, I had to put the mix on a plate and then it was a bit easier.
It was hard regardless.
Tadaa!! They were super tasty..made me really addicted to them.
Hers look so pretty and mine look a bit like an experiment haha
(well, technically it kinda was).
My parents enjoyed them very much!
I will take some to work tomorrow.
I promised my colleague I would give him some because I told him I want to try this recipe.
I am excited to see what he will say about it haha.
I think we need bigger slices though.
I mean american toast is a lot bigger and even though I rolled them flat I think because they were small it was more difficult to roll them and keep them rolled.
In the evening I prepared a salad for me and my mum again!
This time with fish <3
Not too many ingredients here:
lettuce, tomato, burrata and fish.
I put some seeds on top and used the sweet onion sauce we still had and finished the bottle.
It was very yummy!!
I am going to read some blogs again which I couldn't do the past days and then continue my book.
Good night!
