online shopping tips x3

Yo!
I put some stuff in my cart on Aliexpress that I plan on getting...
I am a little bit early since we just have the middle of the month but I am on a inspo-trip.

While I looked through the stuff I figured I want to give you a couple tips that I gathered over the years.

Step 1: Research

-make sure you pick a niche you want to focus on (90s, y2k, glam, happy, rock etc..)
-sort the inspo accordingly. Is it from the same time period? same group of people?
-focus on colors and textiles as well, make sure to look at the cut of the clothes.
-are there any patterns?
-focus on a season as well if you live in a place with lots of temperature variations
-make collages or collect bullet points (like my pointo posts)

Step 2: Choose where to shop

I think if you pick 1-2 things in a hundred shops there are two things that would happen:
a. you pay too much for shipping
b. you loose the feeling of how much you spend

Rn I like to shop at aliexpress.
I even follow some of my favourite shops and click on their newest listings and just pick out of those.
It minimizes wanting to get EVERYTHING because you have a smaller variety to choose from but I guess it depends wether you know that shop for quite some time now or not.

Step 3: Pick what to put in your cart

If you know for example you need to get more skirts because you barely have any -> put at least one to cart in a basic design that you can code with multiple pieces in your closet.
Focus more on your chosen bullet points.
Try to get more without shipping or choose enough from one shop/section so shipping turns free.
Before you put something into your cart, ask yourself following questions:
1. Do I really like it or do I just think it looks cool?
2. Does it suit me?
3. Can I wear it? (Occasion)
4. Can I code it with multiple pieces and do I already have stuff in my closet I could code it with?
5. Will it be comfortable for me? or is it out of my comfort zone? If yes, why?
Make sure to put in a couple jewelry and accessories as well.
Example with a plain black tank top:
Coded with studded jewelry and a skull necklace it will turn to rock.
Coded with a bright star necklace and colorful clothes it will match amekaji vibes.
Coded with a pearl necklace and a fur coat it could be considered elegant or girly.
Accessories and Jewelry are the best way to make a great code out of basic clothings with a tight budget.
Make sure to put lifestyle stuff in as well, like i.e. pajamas, towels, carpets etc.
Over a longer time period you will be able to enhance your overall lifestyle, even if you don't always wear exciting codes.

Step 4: Sort out.

Now the hard part is to delete everything out of the cart that did not convince you enough.
Minimize the cart to fit your budget.
This might take a while since you like all of these things.
Focus first on all the things that you know apply only to one or two points of the questions above.
Then get rid of the excess.
Do I have too many necklaces now?
Often you won't wear that many even, so there is no point in hoarding all of them.
Make sure there is a theme in your cart, either from style or colors.
Can you code the stuff in the cart with each other?

Step 5: Wait

Sounds ridiculous but I never order right away.
Like literally never.
Dream a couple days of the clothes.
Which ones stuck to your head? Did you forget about a couple pieces?
Did you think of a piece that you sorted out?
You can figure out your true feelings about these clothes and avoid more impulse purchases.
Also, if it happens and you suddenly need cash you did not spend it yet on something you do not need.
As a result, it happens that I delete and add new things over a longer time period until I am satisfied and purchase.

I hope these tips help you with shopping, they sure helped me.
BaiBai!
