Good evening folks!
I just finished reading another book and still have some time left in the evening...so I figured to write then.
I started this draft a couple days ago but then got distracted and left it...honestly I didn't even start with the actual topic, so here I am, 2nd round.
I am not sure where to start again, because for now I don't really know what to talk about this topic and at the same time, there is so much to talk about.
Maybe let's start with why I choose to blog..
Mostly because I just don't own social media.
When I made the decision to delete and deinstall everything I didn't think it would end up so well.
It is so calming, to not have constant trigger-posts up into your face and people shouting their opinions all over social media. It manipulates your psyche more than you think, when you are force-fed to believe stuff without giving it a second thought. The content is fast, loud and a lot...and I craved silence.
When I opened Tik Tok and saw someone post about Waka Waka from Shakira being cultural appropriation, completely ignoring the world cup that was being held in south africa, I decided to delete it. I was like, nope that's enough.
When I opened Instagram and watched a reel of people shouting at each other, nothing more, I got an intense headache. All content creators more or less shout their sentences into the camera but this time, they just screamed at each other, without content...and I was like "Is this what it came down to? is this what people today consider to be entertainment?" and I deleted that fucking thing.
It is crazy, how much time you have in your daily life when you delete the scrolling.
There are only 3 apps that are technically social media but I don't use it that way:
1.X, which I uses for like 10-15 minutes once or twice a day to check the news. I only check my followings...nothing else.
2. Pinterest, which I also use maybe 10-15 minutes in the evening, checking my "suggestion" posts to see new inspiration or nail art to give me inspo for my next design.
3. Xiaohongshu, which I use every other week, sometimes once a month for the same reason..to get some inspo. But also for food content, lmao.
That's it...but at some point I was craving contact again, especially as a gyaru that does not have any gals living around. I have nobody to talk to about my passion in reallife.
So I started blogging again.
I do it to have a space where I can speak about the things that matter to me.
And those few who are left blogging as well, read it and comment underneath my posts (which always makes me super happy). That's how I keep my online circle.
Via this I got invited into a discord server, where I additionally had some new contacts but now it has come down to the same people I like talking to regularly.
It is also nice to have a blog to keep progress...reading old posts is always so weird.
Sometimes you read stuff you completely disagree with now and then there are things, where you completely forgot that was a topic.
When I see what I have done all this year, I am surprised myself because it always seemed like I am not doing anything, not going out etc. and here I am reading through my posts, where I went....it feels like ages ago but it has been just a couple months.
I find it comfortable also, that it is completely voluntarily.
If I need time for myself, offline, I don't post. That's it.
No notifications popping up, reminding me to go back to that app.
No endless scrolling or people shouting in videos, giving me headaches.
Trust me how much power this has...to live offline.
Some like to go the extreme way, without the smartphone at all, to me that's not necessary.
I have all the self-control to use my phone only for the stuff that matters.
-> I pretty much just have distinct times when I use what app..and then I only check for the notification bar, if I see a video of youtube or a post of x I think is interesting, I click on it, check it, and close it again.
My phone is my most important tool in my life with bank account in it + chatGPT (xD).
I am all for progress, but I also am old enough to dream in nostalgia and have that longing for older, better days...and this is my healthy mix to combine the best of both world.
Yes it has some cons to it, considering that blogging is not popular and most gyaru content is on social media nowadays. I pretty much miss all news and I really stopped to care about it.
If I feel like there is something I need to know, I ask or look it up.
Honestly, you really don't need to be constantly up to date with gyaru, to be a good gyaru I think. It is more important what you do and how you decide to look in the dailies, than what you spend time with in your life.
Maybe some might disagree?
