Hello!
Last post of 2025 will be my reading list <3
This year I didn't read much, I was gone 3 weeks in singapore, went to museums, visited friends more often und tried out new hobbies..
For those who didn't know or forgot I explain my choice in books quickly.
So basically I like to go in random.
I do not search for descriptions, genres (sometimes I guess what genre it is from the cover) or anything.
Most of the time I add a book on my wishlist when I saw a picture of it online, in a list from the recommendation from someone else or just browsing on thalia.
It's rare that I pick a book conciously.
That's because I want to be exposed to new things regularly and I feel more comfortable not knowing anything about the story.
I have my books on my shelf turned around so I don't know what book I will take out next as well.
My friends will go "second row, number seven" and thats the next read :D
I merely have sorted it for genre, because current vibe is important for me to be in the mood of reading.
I kept this list over the year, so it will be interesting for me as well to see what I have written about a book like 12 months ago haha.
I also don't write much about the book itself in my reads on my blog for the same reasons..if you want, you can go in random.
Laurie Gilmore The Pumpkin Spice Cafe
This is actually the first of the series haha...I heard of the other first and then got this one in a preorder I think? It was just as cute as the other but here again: it is not as innocent as it looks.
Meng Xi Shi Thousand Autumns
I got this one in German actually! The cover was very intriguing and I wanted to try out something like this and the description sounded interesting enough to get it anyway. In the start it was very captivating but after like...in the middle maybe? it got less and less interesting and I just wanted to finish, so I am not sure if I will get the other books.
Virginia Woolf Mrs. Dalloway
(I have a different cover)
I got this one to inform myself more about the stream-of-consciousness writing style and I have mixed feelings about this book. Maybe it is because it is very old English and I am not native.
I could perfectly follow the story but not understand anything xD
It was a very interesting experience for sure.
Like, the writing style made it so easy for me to follow but the many old terms made it quite difficult for me to understand the content.
Does that make sense? lmao.
Toshikazu Kawaguchi Tales from the Cafe
This is the 2nd book from the series and the first one already made me cry!
This one was not one bit less perfect.. the stories are just so damn emotional...
I love his stories.
Also they are kept quite short, so even when you have limited time to read you could make a rule like for a example one story per evening...and you would be done in 4 days..
The language is kept very easy so the reading speed is a lot quicker than with challenging books.
Emily McIntire Crossed
I was in the mood for some romance.
I have to admit I wasn't into the plot in the first like...100 pages?
But then out of nowhere I was so invested in the story...I finished in a night
(went to sleep at like 1 am).
E.Lockhart We were liars
Same thing here. At first I wasn't really into it, despite the easy way it is written.
The chapters are very quick, so it is quite easy to read for not trained readers as well.
At some point I got more and more curious...however the end broke me.
I had to hold back tears.
I've seen there is a tv-show of it?? I am not sure if I want to watch it..what if it's bad?
I don't want it to ruin the book haha.
Thóra Hjörleifsdóttir Magma
I read this in one evening, I am serious. It is technically 200 pages but every chapter is like 1-2 pages and inbetween are empty pages, so in total you read like idk 100-120 pages and some of them are just a couple sentences. It is absolutely doable.
I think it is well written, nothing special though. It made me angry, I hated it haha.
No recommendation from me, sry.
Catriona Silvey Meet Me In Another Life
Why do current books need like approx. 100 pages until the story gets good?
I was about to dislike it but then it got really interesting.
The concept is something else for sure.
I loved the heartbreaking ending.
John Burnside The Dumb House
I haven't been reading for a couple months again and wanted to get out of the reading blockage.
I felt for a switch and went to my horror books and pulled this one out.
It immediately captivated me with it's interesting story and it was well written.
I understand why it is considered as "horror" by some, I did feel uneasy and tense after reading.
It is a little bit fucked up as well...so not recommended for softies.
Emily McIntire Wretched
I let ChatGPT decide a random number to choose from my shelf and picked this one!
This story was really good, both of the characters have such depth and unlike most dark romances this one didn't give the feeling of "oh so typical" and "what a weird plot" at all!
I really enjoyed reading it actually...just like all dark romances, please caution it contains smut.
Yes...that's it for 2025 :')
Looking through this list, maybe I should start reading again haha.
And another song from Eisbrecher, just as romantic and beautiful.
"Why do you love me?
Why do you lie in my arms?
Just tell me!
Why do you love me?
Why do you stay by my side?
Just tell me!
Why don't you leave me?"
I WISH YOU ALL A HAPPY NEW YEAR 2026!
xoxo rinmero
