Heyaa Bunnies
It's been a month since I dyed my hair with headshot hairdye and I thought I should write a review.
I wasn't quite sure which dye I would use and how much I need, so I bought both colours three times. I first wanted Blood Berry but it looked very purpleish and the preview picture made it look very bright, so I wasn't sure if I chose the right colour. I then bought Hellfire Red which had more red tones in it but the preview picture looked very intense In the end I decided to mix both together. My goal was to achieve a brighter darkred colour with pink tones in it. So ultimately: Not too bright, not too dark, not too pink, not too red. A very complex wish that I couldn't find on any inspiration posts online. So I was even more surprised when the colour turned out exactly how I wanted it to
It's difficult for me now to say how much I needed. Every bottle has 150ml dye in it. The bottles are very impractical. You can squeeze out just as much dye...and everything else? There is always around 20-30ml that u can't get out, no matter how much you squeeze So I think the packaging could be better. since I I mixed both colours and have A LOT of dye left, I can't quite say how much I used now I'd say it was around 1/4th of the each bottle to dye my natural hair, so maybe 60-100ml? I used two bottles and the rest of the open bottles for my extensions which almost a bottle was left (I kept it to redye my natural hair after a couple wash out),around 300ml that I mixed but almost a bottle left. So, for 60cm exte I used ca.150ml I also have to admit due to the bad packaging, I was kinda doing a really sloppy job...I think I also wasted a lot of dye And even though I had two types of blonde, the overall colour is almost identical
I didn't quite take care of the colour, I want to try other colours as well and I still have two bottles left PLUS a bottle with the mixed colour I washed my hair maybe 9-15 times the past 3 weeks but washed my exte only once. The colour almost is the same but the difference is, that my own hair looks more pale and not as intense anymore. You can only really spot a washed-out colour on my tips, they look like a pastel type of red. Here I am holding my exte next to my own hair in sunlight and somewhere more shadowy in my bedroom
When I had red hair the last time, I was around 17. I dyed my hair with box dye (also a semipermanent dye) over platinum bleached hair. The colour almost was fully washed out in a couple of washes and nearly looked like a dirty redblonde then Compared to this experience, the quality of headshot is amazing. I do have to admit I am kinda scared. I saw a couple of tiktoks where people were complaining about a hairdye that is carpetdye (?) and they couldn't get rid of it anymore. Sooo, when I'll redye my hair, I need to bleach my roots anyway....so I will check if bleach is getting rid of the dye. I already had henna on that I couldn't get off anymore, I don't need carpetdye too
But I doubt it..."vegan"..hmm doesn't sound like it should be such of a big deal to get out huh?
One thing that is horribly and terrible about this dye is staining.
Like, wow...I never had any issues with it. Yea, the walls get dirty, that's why I am not allowed to dye my hair anywhere else beside our non-renovated bathroom in the basement. But skin? I usually always cleaned my skin right after dying it, and that was enough..no stains However THIS hairdye is brutal. I had a red neck for almost two weeks. nail polish remover, peelings, whatever.. it stayed mostly.Red colour is EVERYWHERE I only used the same towel the past weeks to avoid staining every single towel I own. my jackets are red at the neck. My bedsheets are redstained...everything My boyfriend washed his sheets that had my staining and it immediately got off. I hope it works for my stuff as well This is a picture of my hand after washing my exte today. U get red spots every single time when u touch the wet hair and soap doesn't get rid of it. I could wash my hands multiple times and it wouldn't get off it
My endresult: It is a very great colour and I would do it again. BUT...they desperately need a different packaging and it's a pain in the ass because of the staining. After I used the rest of the dye I will try a different brand. I knew bright colours like these stain, but I didn't expect it to be this bad...I want to try if it's the same with other type of dyes and if yes, it ain't headshots fault. But yea, it is a lot of work.
xoxo Lynn
